2,9-Bis(naphthalen-2-yl)-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, abbreviated as NBphen, is a white to off-white crystalline powder. It is soluble in anhydrous organic solvents such as dichloromethane, diethyl ether, and acetone, but practically insoluble in water. NBphen is a commonly used fluorescent probe and dye with excellent fluorescence emission properties. It finds extensive applications in biomedical research, optoelectronics, and chemical sensors.
NBphen can also be used in the fabrication of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic electroluminescent devices (OELs), exhibiting high luminous efficiency and long lifetime.
