Application of 4-Methyl-2-Pentanol (MIBC) 108-11-2 C6H14O

  • 4-Methyl-2-pentanol is an excellent medium boiling point solvent. Mainly used as a solvent for dyestuffs, petroleum, rubber, resin, paraffin, nitrocellulose and ethyl cellulose, etc. Used as an inert solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers, which can increase the gloss and flatness of the paint and improve the reddening performance; used as a solvent in the manufacture of lubricant additives. Used as raw material for organic synthesis, mineral flotation detergent, such as extraction of silica and copper sulfate ore; also used in brake fluid.

  • 4-Methyl-2-pentanol is also an excellent foaming agent for non-ferrous metals and non-metallic ores. It is mainly used as a foaming agent for the separation of non-ferrous oxidized ores or fine-grained sulphide ores with high mud content. It is widely used in the beneficiation of lead-zinc, copper-molybdenum and copper-gold ores all over the world, and is particularly effective in improving the quality of concentrates.
