N,N-Dimethylacetamide, also known as acetyl dimethylamine, acetyl dimethylamine, DMAC for short, is a non proton high polarity solvent, has a slight ammonia odor, very strong solvency, can dissolve a wide range of substances, can be arbitrarily miscible with water, aromatic compounds, esters, ketones, alcohols, ethers, benzene and chloroform, etc., and can make the molecules of the compounds to be activated, and is therefore widely used as solvents and catalysts.
As a solvent with high boiling point, high flash point, high thermal stability and chemical stability, it can be used as a solvent for the extraction of acrylonitrile, as a solvent for synthetic and natural resins, copolymers such as vinyl formate and vinyl pyridine, and aromatic carboxylic acids.
It can be used as catalyst for urea heating to make cyanuric acid, haloalkanes reacting with metal cyanide to make nitrile, sodium acetylene reacting with haloalkanes to make alkyl acetylene, organic halide reacting with cyanate to make isocyanate and other processes.
N,N-Dimethylacetamide can also be used as a solvent for electrolysis solvents and photographic colorants, paint stripping agent, organic synthesis raw materials, pesticides and pharmaceutical raw materials. Separated from the C8 fraction of styrene extraction distillation solvent.
